Cutting Emissions Isn’t Enough. We Need to Scrub Carbon Directly from the Air

Poorandokht Kashkouli, a postdoctoral researcher, was recently featured with her direct air capture (DAC) rig in a Georgia Tech news article. The DAC rig is located in Georgia Tech's Carbon Neutral Energy Solutions Laboratory and pulls air across filter-like materials to remove carbon dioxide from air (see adsorption).

The article describes research by three SSEC faculty, Chris Jones, Ryan Lively, and Matthew Realff, on direct air capture. Check out the full article here to learn why DAC is necessary, how we can make it a reality, and more about the newly established Direct Air Capture Center (DirACC).
